Plants Revamping

Turboden systems may require specific maintenance activities and overhauls to ensure long-term efficiency and extend their operational life. The revamping process carried out by Turboden’s specialized technicians is essential to keeping the plant in optimal condition.

COMMON REASONS FOR REVAMPING AN ORC SYSTEM

  • Extend plant life
A Turboden ORC plant is designed for an operational life of 20 years following proper use and regular maintenance. There are several cases in the Turboden fleet of plants that have already reached this threshold and continue to operate at original performances.
In order for such plants to continue operating for a longer period they require maintenance interventions that mainly concern rotating components, heat exchangers and lubrication control unit. Turboden is able to revamp all these components, restoring their proper functioning and extending their service life. During the revamping activity we apply state-of-the-art components and technologies that also increase the reliability, efficiency and safety of the ORC itself that, at the end, can be considered like new.
  • Increase output
Action can be taken on ORCs to increase their electrical output and/or efficiency.
  • Relocate the plant
For reasons related to the ORC owner's business, it may be necessary to change the installation site. Turboden is able to follow all activities, from disassembly at the existing site to installation at the new one. With the occasion, revamping activities can be performed to improve the condition of the installation and adapt it to the specific requirements of the new site.
  • Change plant set-up
Plant set-up can be change from electric power production only to heat and power configuration or vice versa, following the market demand trends or the facility needs

REVAMPING ADVANTAGES

  • Increased Energy Efficiency
Revamping an ORC system often involves upgrading key components and integrating advanced state of the art technologies, which can significantly improve the system's energy efficiency. Greater efficiency translates into reduced energy consumption: an efficient ORC system requires less input energy to produce the same output, which means less fuel or resource consumption.
  • Increased Power Output
Revamping an ORC often lead to Increase thermal and electric production, resulting in increased revenues.
  • Carbon Footprint Reduction
Revamping an ORC system can lead to a substantial reduction in the carbon footprint of the facility or process it serves. This is particularly important in the context of global efforts to mitigate climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
  • Renewable Energy Integration
Converting a plant to a cogeneration configuration optimizes the use of the primary resource, dramatically increasing overall conversion efficiency and delivering immediate economic and environmental benefits.
  • Circular economy
Giving the plant a second life means extending its life cycle, reusing it instead of scrapping it.
