Waste Heat to Power
In today’s energy landscape, the efficient use of resources is more critical than ever. Waste heat to power (WHP) technologies offer a sustainable solution to recover and convert residual heat from industrial processes into clean electricity. Turboden’s Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) can produce power by utilizing the residual heat from manufacturing operations, particularly in energy intensive industries enabling them to reduce energy waste, lower emissions, and improve overall efficiency.
MAXIMIZING ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITH ORC PLANT TECHNOLOGY
Our ORC-based heat recovery systems are designed to enhance overall energy efficiency in industrial facilities and power plants capturing low- to medium-grade heat from various sources—such as internal combustion engines, and gas turbines—and convert it into useful power. With electrical power outputs reaching up to 40 MW per single turbine shaft, Turboden ORC units are ideal for energy-intensive sectors including steel, cement, glass, wood treatment and non-ferrous metals.
Turboden Heat to Power advantages
- High cycle efficiencies of up to 28%
- Heat input starting from 120°C (from gaseous, liquid and condensing streams)
- Seamless integration into existing industrial processes
- Water free solutions
- Automatic operations system

ORC APPLICATIONS IN O&G SECTOR
The Oil & Gas sector presents significant opportunities for waste heat recovery. Turboden’s ORC technology is engineered to meet its unique challenges.
Our ORC recover excess heat from:
- Gas compressor stations
- Associated Petroleum Gas (APG) combustion
- Hot process streams
GAS COMPRESSOR STATION
Turboden’s ORC systems, using organic working fluids, are the ideal solution for turning exhaust gas streams—such as those from small to medium-sized gas turbines—into valuable green electricity.
Designed for flexibility and fully automated operation, our ORC units adapt seamlessly to the variable loads typical of gas compressor stations and are perfectly suited for remote installations.
The electricity generated can be used to power electric-driven compressors, reducing fuel consumption and operational costs while boosting sustainability and energy independence.
ASSOCIATED PETROLEUM GAS (APG)
At many Oil & Gas extraction sites, Associated Petroleum Gas (APG) is often flared due to its poor chemical composition, making it difficult to utilize with conventional technologies. This not only wastes valuable energy but also contributes to unnecessary emissions.
Turboden offers a smarter, greener alternative. Our ORC technology transforms the energy potential of flare gas into clean, reliable electricity. By using a boiler fueled by APG to heat a thermal vector fluid—typically thermal oil—our system feeds an ORC unit that generates electric power and, in CHP configurations, low-temperature heat as well.
PROCESS HOT STREAMS
Both upstream and downstream operations in the Oil & Gas sector generate significant amounts of medium-to-low temperature heat—often overlooked and wasted. From hot water in exhausted extraction wells to high-temperature refining processes where products like diesel and kerosene exit at 150°C to 250°C, valuable energy is constantly being lost.
Turboden’ s ORC technology turns this untapped thermal potential into clean, usable power. By selecting the optimal working fluid, our systems efficiently convert low-enthalpy heat sources into electricity—boosting energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and adding value to your operations without disrupting production.
