ST&P®, Turboden Steam & Power ORC system, is a new technical solution for Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation, with a very high overall energy efficiency, directly employed in manufacturing and industrial processes. It allows the production of electricity and a valuable high temperature heat carrier, such as steam, directly exploitable in manufacturing processes.

HIGH-TEMPERATURE COGENERATION SYSTEM

The innovative principle of Steam & Power ORC Systems is the temperature level of the cycle itself, about 100°C higher than for standard ORC units. It allows cogeneration of electricity and steam at medium pressure with a very high overall energy efficiency.

STEAM & POWER ORC – HOW IT WORKS

HEAT SOURCE

The fuel (natural gas, syngas, diesel, fuel oil, wood pellet and others) is fed to the combustion chamber of the boiler. There it is mixed with preheated air and burned.

INTERMEDIATE LOOP

The combustion heat is transferred to the thermal oil loop, which transfers the heat from the boiler to the ORC power unit.

ELECTRIC POWER

The ORC uses the heat coming from the  intermediate loop to evaporate the ORC working fluid that expands in the turbine generating electric power.

STEAM PRODUCTION

Downstream the turbine, the organic vapour pre-heats the organic liquid in the regenerator and is then condensed at high temperature releasing its latent heat for steam generation, to feed the manufacturing process.

Other high temperature heat media can be generated instead of steam: thermal oil, pressurized water, hot air, etc.

Steam & Power ORC System was conceived to satisfy many manufacturing processes requiring electricity as well as relevant amount of medium pressure steam or other medium temperature (about 200 °C) media (e.g. pressurized water, thermal oil, etc.).
