THE NEED
Arvedi Acciaieria operates a steel factory in Cremona in which a steel melting electric arc furnace is employed. The possibility to utilize the waste heat from the furnace was examined.
OUR SOLUTION
The Turboden 100 HR ORC unit, designed for 10 MW nominal capacity and operated at 7.5 MW for the primary years of operation, recovers waste heat from the off-gas released by the steel melting electric arc furnace and produces electric power. The heat recovery system configuration is designed with a saturated steam heat carrier circuit to convey the heat from the furnace exhaust gas to the ORC unit.
