THE CUSTOMER
STIA Holzindustrie GmbH specializes in producing wooden flooring and panels, manufacturing a total of 25.000 different products. Headquartered in Austria, the company operates offices throughout the German-speaking region, and sells its products in 98 countries worldwide. The firm employs a total of 330 people, and generates annual revenues of 55 million euros.
THE NEED
The customer need was the economic valorization of the energetic resource when the costs for the electric power where very high. Thanks to the integration of the ORC system in the production process, the customer satisfied its energetic requirements.
In 2006 the ORC plant was shut down, when the customer decided to purchase from Turboden a larger plant, of 800kWe.
In 2022 the increase in energy demand and the tension on prices prompted the reactivation of the first ORC plant (450 kWe).
OUR SOLUTION
In 1999 Turboden supplied a 450 kWe ORC system to produce electric power and heat for the wooden flooring production process and for the district heating. STIA Holzindustrie GmbH was the pioneer in Austria utilizing this technology.
In 2022, thanks to Turboden After-sales service, the plant was revamped and started up again with some maintenance activities, such as the revamp of the turbine and the updating of the control software.
