THE CUSTOMER

ITC Invest Trading & Consulting AG provides innovative technologies on recycling, disposal and rehabilitation methods. ITC owns and successfully operate 9 integrated waste to energy plants based on landfill gas around Turkey and one gasification plant in Ankara.

THE NEED

For its innovative project of gasification of medical and industrial waste, ITC was looking for a way to convert the heat of the combustion of the syngas produced by their gasificator into electric power. The main driver of the solution were electric power efficiency, low operational costs and high efficiency at partial loads in order to increase the energy production also in periods with lower amount of waste available.

OUR SOLUTION

Turboden supplies two 5.5 MWe ORC unit, Turboden 55 HRS. The two high efficiency units T 55-HRS exploit the heat produced by the combustion of the synthesis gas generated from industrial waste. The gases are burned in two boilers that heat the thermal oil which carries a heat input of 20 MWth in each ORC module. Except of the ORC, the equipment of the plant is in big part locally produced and is the result of a remarkable R&D investment by the customer. Regarding the power generation side, ORC has been preferred to the steam options because of Turboden’s flexibility in meeting customer’s specific needs. The ORC module’s high partial load efficiency and low operational costs also paid an important role.
