THE CUSTOMER

Dettendorfer Rohstoff GmbH & Co. was founded in 2011 in Rosenheim. Its activity is based on the trade of wood derivatives and on the production of green fuels, like pellet, chips and industrial waste. In 2016 Dettendorfer Rohstoff acquired an existing biomass CHP plant and started a forward-looking improvement plan by adding different wood products

THE NEED

The customer was looking for process efficiency improvements in order to better exploit the local biomass fuel and improve the production. One of the issues was concerning the low efficiency of the old ORC manufactured in 2006 by a competitor of Turboden (manufactured by Adoratec GmbH). The low ORC efficiency compared to the past was mainly caused by a working fluid contamination and by not optimized  thermal oil control.

OUR SOLUTION

Turboden installed a patented device for the oil separation and removal from organic fluids and improved the setup of the thermal oil heat exchanger. The result was a power output increase of more than 15%. Turboden supported the customer also in the thermal oil loop optimization thanks to the experience earned with more than 300 ORC in operation.
