  • MODEL: TURBODEN 50 HR
  • POWER: 5 MWe

THE CUSTOMER

Danucem Slovensko a.s., part of CRH Group, global leader in building materials, is a Slovak company operating in the construction materials industry, primarily focused on the production of cement, concrete, aggregates, and related products.
Rohožník’s plant is specialized in the production of quality grey and white cement, material for new high-class buildings.

THE NEED

Turboden’s ORC is running in Rohožník since 2013 producing almost 5MW of green electricity by recovering heat from their cement factory process. Since his installation the ORC helped the company to reduce cost due to electricity consumption recovering heat from cement production process.
In the last year the ORC production started to decrease and was not possible to reach the nominal power.
The owner of the plant requested to Turboden to evaluate and solve the problem and restore the original condition of the ORC.

OUR SOLUTION

Turboden After Sales dept analyzed the performance of the ORC and evaluate all the possible problem and relative solution. This was possible thanks to our monitoring and recording system together with our Thermal Engineer skills and ability to analyze the trend report.
The study proved an excessive scaling on the condenser and the need for a turbine overhaul to recover the nominal power production.
Turboden’s After Sales solution was the condenser’s tubes bundle replacement and a turbine overhaul.
Thanks to the cooperation between our professional onsite staff and a specialized company the activities on the condenser has been carried out inside the existing building. The turbine revision was performed in our warehouse in Brescia under the responsibility and control of our Turbine’s technician.
The ORC system is now running producing the electric power required by our customer.
