THE CUSTOMER

ENAS is the Sardinia Water Authority that manages the multi-sectoral hydro system of the region Sardinia.

THE NEED

The project is funded by the Regional Government of Sardinia in the framework of the operational program ERDF 2007-2013. The project aims to assess in real operating conditions, the performance, the effectiveness and the reliability of small-scale concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies (P<5MWe) in the field of distributed generation. In particular, the potentiality of small scale CSP with thermal energy storage to supply electricity and thermal energy at local level will be investigated.

OUR SOLUTION

Turboden supplied a 600 kWe ORC turbogenerator, integrated with a thermal oil two-tanks energy storage system with a capacity of 14 MWth that guarantee more than four working hours at nominal load, even without solar radiation. The unit is fed by 10.000m2 of Fresnel solar collectors without any fossil fuel integration.
