THE CUSTOMER

Çimko had first entered into cement business through privatization of Adıyaman plant from the government in 1995. The company has then continued its growth by Narlı/Kahramanmaraş cement plant investment. Thanks to the joint venture with Sanko Holding, currently operates Adıyaman and Narlı cement plants, packaging facilities in Gaziantep and Kilis and even ready mix concrete plants in different locations. Çimko has a kiln capacity of over 10000 tpd, representing the biggest cement clinker in Turkey.

THE NEED

The need of the company was to convert the existing waste heat from clinker cooler into electrical power, as the electricity is one of the main operating expenses of a cement production plant.

OUR SOLUTION

Turboden solution is a 70 HRS ORC unit with air cooled condenser, designed for 6.4 MWe peak capacity that converts the waste heat from clinker cooler into electric power. The heat recovery system configuration includes a thermal oil boiler with a heat carrier circuit to convey the heat from the cooler to the ORC unit. The system represents the first application with ORC turbogenerator installed in a cement plant in Turkey.
